After we disced the field we had to go and help our daughter with some house issues. Now it is too wet from rain to plant oats. Oh well the life of farming. Hubby is working elsewhere today. I am resting after being exhausted from helping daughter. Well not for long need to clean jars of soup I canned on Wed. So until another time , God bless and enjoy whats left of summer..

Well today is a quiet day, hubby is out trying to fix the cultivators and try to get some plowing done. Me I am resting and getting more items prepared for canning more garden food. So busy I am with this canning and all things come at once. I have not been over to the fields lately so I don't know what it looks like right now. We do need rain the grass and some crops are dry.

  We are pushing around the idea of mushroom farming too. We have the building for it but will need to buy a few more things to accomplish it.

Well the plows are fixed , he took off one bottom and is using just 5 btm now. it works. He will have to get parts for the 6th btm . So he is out today reading the field for fall cover crop. The tractor and plow he is using is in my pics, the White 185 and Kverneland Plow.

We had our first PCO (Pa Certified Organic) inspection on Monday. It went well. Took a long time, hubby didn't get much done that day. My daughter and I though were making cookies.
  Today hubby is going to fix his plow. Not much to do in the fields right now. Hubby is to plow some fields for fall crop. So fixing the plow right is important.

The woes of farming and repairs. Hubby needs to repair a tire on our White tractor. Well the showers stopped him from proceeding to the task. We had to go to a a cousins funeral today so he didn't much done today.

Randal is working on keeping weeds at bay. Our corn is very tall as you can see in the photos on Photo page. He is also working on plowing more fields for fall cover crop.

  I have been canning again and keeping busy at keeping the garden. The fresh canned foods for the winter is so rewarding. Harvesting is so great.
Here is a couple of things Iv'e done so far.

I have done beets too recently and more veggies and fruits to do yet. It is fun to put up your own food.

 Hubby is working the fields to manage the weeds today. He is using a walk-behind brush mower. A lot of exercise he is getting today. He is not doing all the fields that is a lot of acres. Just the ones that grew way too fast and will be harvested with the crops if not taken care of now.

   I am canning pickles today, and what ever else I can find to do. August already is here and fall upon us soon. A few more months till harvest. Time is going way too fast for me..
